freeimage includes a number of wrappers (Delphi, C++, .NET and VB6), none of which get installed by default and there is no USE-flag to turn them (or some of them on)
Especially the c++ bindings should be included by default imho. 

Freeimage includes a makefile for it's c++ wrapper called Makefile.fip.
