Description:   Opened: 2003-06-27 04:22 0000
NVI needs db3, but has a dependency for >=db3. Also it does not correctly
detect
db3 when db4 is installed

------- Comment #1 From Paul de Vrieze 2003-08-01 03:12:57 0000 -------
I have changed the dependency to depend on db-3 and to block on db-4. I'll
leave this bug open as it is not really a solution

------- Comment #2 From Paul de Vrieze 2003-08-01 03:18:50 0000 -------
Also nvi seems to be unmaintained

------- Comment #3 From Robin Johnson 2003-08-18 00:40:07 0000 -------
I've put in an -r1 ebuild of nvi that resolves the db4 issue, but in doing so I
have found the package has a lot more problems with the current glibc.
how long is it since somebody actually used this package?

------- Comment #4 From Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) 2003-08-23 16:46:08 0000 -------
if it warrants removal, then it should be removed.

patch to 1.81.5-r1

I'm happy if nvi remain in the portage tree.
It works fine with my patch for me.
What are the problems with glibc?

------- Comment #6 From Robin Johnson 2003-08-28 16:07:20 0000 -------
yakina: your patch seems to resolve all of the issues, i've tested and commited
now. what I took for glibc errors was just db weirdness on a db-4.1 system.
