Description Jürgen Geuter 2008-08-19 12:03:28 UTC
The newest gvim version (7.2) does not use the "normal" gtk open file dialog but the very old one even though gvim was build with the "gnome" useflag enabled.
The provided URL shows the wrong file open dialog being opened.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open gvim-7.2
2. try opening a file

Actual Results:
Old gtk-file-open dialog pops up.

Expected Results:
The proper GNOME file open dialog should appear.

Still the same problem with gvim-7.2.021
Comment 2 Christian Pötzsch 2008-10-29 15:17:03 UTC
Same here. Has someone an idea how to get the old behavior back?

According to an IRC conversation with jamessan on #vim...

(03:35:41 PM) jamessan: HorizonXP: it's not a Gentoo bug. the new Gtk dialogs would cause Vim to excessively write out the "Recently Used files" file (like every time you pressed a key), so Bram switched back to the old dialogs

So the only solution is to revert to a pre-7.2 version. Or, wait until it's fixed upstream.

Sorry, wish I could edit my comment, but here's the link to Bram's patch:
