Description Kyle Elbert 2008-08-07 14:56:08 UTC
currently it pulls in the latest version, which is dev-libs/lzo-2.03 (for ~arch) , however it needs lzo 1.x.

Reproducible: Always

oh wait, it seems to just not work at all, "checking for __lzo_init_v2 in -llzo2... no

configure: error: LZO library version 1.02 or later is required"

and i have both LZO 1.x adn 2.x installed
Comment 2 Kyle Elbert 2008-08-07 15:12:27 UTC
ooohhhhhh, wait, on amd64 i think its looking for the x86 version.....
Comment 3 Kyle Elbert 2008-08-07 15:22:48 UTC
ok, the problem is that it looks for some sort of lzo in /lib32/ ,however, lzo doesn't put any files for it to link with in /lib32.

fixed in cvs

Hi Spanky,

On my PC the problem is still there:
configure: error: LZO library version 1.02 or later is required

although the right version of the ebuild grub-1.96 is installed.

Well, configure.ac states that grub need lzo-2:

if test "$target_cpu"-"$platform" = i386-pc; then
  # There are three possibilities. LZO version 2 installed with the name
  # liblzo2, with the name liblzo, and LZO version 1.
  AC_CHECK_LIB(lzo2, __lzo_init_v2, [LIBLZO="-llzo2"],
    AC_CHECK_LIB(lzo, __lzo_init_v2, [LIBLZO="-llzo"],
      AC_CHECK_LIB(lzo, __lzo_init2, [LIBLZO="-llzo"],
AC_MSG_ERROR([LZO library version 1.02 or later is required]))))
  AC_SUBST(LIBLZO)

So current depend is obviously wrong. I think ebuild from bug #231935 is correct as it drops multilib_toolchain_setup x86 on amd64 and thus makes grub workable. I think it's worth to commit that ebuild.
Comment 7 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2008-11-10 14:34:54 UTC
ive updated the DEPEND. people on amd64 need to build/install lzo themselves.
Comment 8 LAj 2008-11-20 14:48:30 UTC
sorry,
I didn't understand what I need to fix it.

I've both versions of lzo and the latest grub ebuild, with portage 2.2pre.

Minding about an ld problem, and the portage update suggestion, I'm using --emptytree @world

but the problem still remain.
