Description Jochen 2008-07-25 10:15:28 UTC
Howdy,

according to http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg/2008-July/037457.html version 2.4.0 is released.

Cheers
Jochen

Reproducible: Always

As hinted in red letters, "Gentoo Bugzilla" is not the correct product to file bugs regarding ebuilds. Please use "New -> Gentoo Linux -> Component: Ebuilds" or New -> Gentoo Security for security issues in future.

Please do not file 0'day requests. When the maintainer doesn't react within a week, it's early enough to do so.

It should be noted that a number of bugs are with the Intel driver are being tracked under:
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15754

There may be as many as 3 distinct bugs. As the 2.3.2 driver did not appear to fix the screen going crazy and since I did not submit the most recent example until July 25, 2008, I doubt the 2.4.0 driver has fixed them all.

A couple things :

1) I know there's a new release, I'm on the intel-gfx and the xorg mailing lists.
2) There's a _big_ issue with 2.4.0 wrt gtk+ 2.13 and XRandR. That's why I've been putting it off for a couple days, I'll be bumping it but as p.mask, that's for sure.
3) If people want to test 2.4.0, please do! And please don't hesitate to report whatever might break, _that_ I'm interested in.

FWIW, the ebuild is trivial to bump as the x_modular eclass does 99% of the heavy-lifting.

Cheers

In portage with a big fat p.mask. Now let this be a warning, 2.4.0 _has_ the flickering bug when used with newer gtk+ and some rather annoying fixes are already in git waiting for 2.4.1.

Bottom line : 2.4.0 is p.masked and will never hit ~arch as is.

Cheers :)
