Comment 3 Sébastien Fabbro (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-06 21:09:54 UTC
Hi,

openmp is not supported by gcc < 4.2. I'm wondering what's the correct solution here. Should we forced the autotools to use pthread instead of openmp if the compiler does not support it? The problem is that we can't detect in the ebuild if the compiler does not support openmp, and it can be common to build fftw with other compilers than gcc.

Since we offer the openmp flag we could just check for >=gcc-4.2 in
pkg_setup and either abort or print a big warning that OpenMP has
been disabled.

Best,
Markus

Comment 5 Sébastien Fabbro (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-10 14:38:52 UTC
I added a few checks when fftw is built with gcc, and fixed the autotools not to abort but to revert to posix threads if openmp is not supported by the compiler.
Should close this bug.
If the solution does not work with icc or other gcc versions, please re-open.
Thanks.
