Description:   Opened: 2008-06-29 15:39 0000
KPDF and XPDF displayed some pdfs incorrectly after upgrade to freetype-2.3.6.
Reverting back to freetype-2.3.5-r2 solved the problem.
The problem was:
- in some pdfs only images were visible, no text.
- in some pdfs there was text, but some parts of text (text using different
style) was not visible.

Upgrading to freetype-2.3.6-r1 solved, which is strange, because this version
is keyword masked - yet it solves the problem.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Emerge freetype-2.3.6
2. Try displaying some pdfs in KPdf or Xpdf.

The problem was with the specific set of PDF files. I wasn't able to reproduce
on other PDF files.

The opposite unfortunately. <2.3.6 should be masked or removed from the
repository. See GLSA 200806-10.

I see. Security is of course more important.

What about removing keyword mask for 2.3.6-r1? It seems to fix this error. I
hate those two hours I've spent downgrading packages and don't wish that anyone
else does that also ;-)

Freetype project has relseased 2.3.7 today
(http://www.freetype.org/index2.html#release-freetype-2.3.7), which fixes some
errors which they say were introduced in 2.3.6. So this is also an option.

------- Comment #3 From Peter Alfredsen 2008-06-30 18:02:15 0000 -------
I agree that freetype-2.3.6 is broken. 2.3.6-r1 fixes some regressions but not
all. 2.3.7 is a "there-isn't-really-room-for-regressions" release, with a
changelog so light, it's really more a bugfixlog.
We know 2.3.7 hasn't been out the appropriate amount of time, yet ask you: for
the sake of the children^Wusers of stable please to mark it stable. 2.3.6 is a
horrible release to have as latest stable.

------- Comment #4 From Ferris McCormick 2008-06-30 19:24:35 0000 -------
OK, we'll make an exception just this once. Sparc stable. (Utilities appear
to work.)
