em28xx-new is an improved driver for em28xx based analog/digital tv receivers. In contrast to the in-kernel em28xx driver, em28xx-new supports more tuners and DVB on recent devices. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:

Live ebuilds are not very welcome in the repository, you better try a working snapshot.
This is now in the sunrise overlay. You can find it at: http://overlays.gentoo.org/svn/proj/sunrise/reviewed/media-tv/em28xx-new/ A snapshot ebuild has been added to sunrise, too.
this is an updated ebuild. I put the archive of the latest pull (2009-04-09) online, including patches for 2.6.29 and 2.6.30, where it wouldn't compile or not create /dev/dvb.

Do the patches break compilation with earlier kernels? If not, they could be applied unconditionally. Also, 2.6.29 is stable now, so supporting older kernels is not worth putting much work into.

I should've said that the original patches were sent to me from a guy over at archlinux (gborzi). For me the patched source wouldn't compile with -28. Also it was not that much work adding the kernel-version check, just a single "if kernel_is".
forgot to mention, the original repository used in the previous snapshots is not available for quite some time now (Markus Rechberger is restructuring...). So there is no other working ebuild right now.
Resolving as WONTFIX since upstream is dead.
