Description Taras Glek[judge] 2002-01-18 23:30:23 UTC
The savage driver include in the defualt xfree isn't very good. its missing
features on certain cards and doesnt supports others at all. My laptop (sony
sr17) is one of the "unsupported" ones. I think its because the savage driver is
moving faster than the xfree tree so the author keeps it outside of the tree.
Please include the http://www.probo.com/timr/savage40.html driver in the XFree
tarball or have the ebuild download the extra source files.

The one included in XFree86 4.2.0 is AFAIK the latest version from
http://www.probo.com/timr/savage40.html as I am writing this.

Also, my opinion is that it should stay of of the X ebuild, since youll have to
add an ebuild for each version of this driver (X takes too long to compile!!).
If it is really too much effort to just download and cp it to the right place,
we should rather add a seperate ebuild as with the nvidia stuff.
