Current stable doesn't ship fdi file for HAL and is such not usable on newer programs.. To really test this, I guess you'd need a device from list: http://libmtp.sourceforge.net/index.php?page=compatibility but I don't really expect a runtime test.

What is an appropriate test for this? We have at least one user depending on this package, so we are not going to drop it. On the other hand, I don't have any devices to test it with.
Oh, here "we" == sparc. And everything builds and installs fine. The examples all try to do the right things, but that's as far as I can go.
