Comment 3 Guy Martin (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-06-11 15:10:14 UTC
Jer, did you had that fix in your kernel :
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/kyle/parisc-2.6.git;a=commitdiff;h=9f301e933211845717e02a87b389d742fe256066;hp=0a033732755b9e685cba81d0f0c87991d1f4b91e

Known to cause panic with gcc-4.3.
Comment 4 Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-06-20 13:49:41 UTC
Can you reproduce this error if you compile your kernel with gcc 4.3.0?

No, I didn't yet. I try running a stable system as much as possible. :)
Comment 6 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2008-06-22 15:02:22 UTC
nothing for toolchain to do ...
Comment 7 Peter Alfredsen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-28 20:27:19 UTC
Have you tried 2.6.26 ?
Comment 8 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-29 23:27:13 UTC

> Have you tried 2.6.26 ?

It's not worth trying as long as the patch isn't in.
Comment 9 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-04-15 15:49:17 UTC
2.6.29* fails in the very same way when built with gcc-4.3.2-r2.
Comment 10 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-04-15 18:19:52 UTC
This is becoming more and more of a problem because gcc-4.3 should go stable soon.
Comment 11 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-05-31 14:54:00 UTC
Should be removed when >=gcc-4.3 goes stable.

sys-devel/gcc-4.3.3-r2 / vanilla-sources-2.6.30-rc4 fails in the same way.

So let's get sys-devel/gcc-4.4 unmasked, maybe with all other keywords dropped:

sys-devel/gcc-4.3 won't be going stable (bug #264121) on HPPA.
Comment 14 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-07-01 22:17:26 UTC
sys-devel/gcc-4.4.4-r1 is keyworded ~hppa and builds a working kernel:
$ cat /proc/version
