Description:   Opened: 2008-06-09 03:18 0000
Would be nice if wxmaxima included a gnuplot dependency and warned if gnuplot
isn't compiled with "wxwindows" use flag. As things stand, the "wxplot2d" and
"wxplot3d" commands of wxmaxima will fail to work without giving any
information as to why they're failing.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install wxmaxima on a system where gnuplot is compiled without the
"wxwindows" use-flag or isn't installed at all.
2. Try any valid wxplot3d or wxplot2d command
Actual Results:
an inline error box with a large X is displayed

Expected Results:
an inline image generated by gnuplot should be shown.

It's possible that the correct solution is that "maxima" should have the
gnuplot dependency instead since gnuplot will be called even without
"wxmaxima". Either way it would be nice if this ebuild at least warned when
gnuplot isn't installed or lacks the wxwindows use flag.

Hi Sean,

Thanks much for the note. I'll have a look at it.

Best,
Markus

Hi

I added in cvs a rdepend for gnuplot on wxmaxima and a warning for both
wxmaxima and maxima (which already check for gnuplot).

Thanks for the suggestions.
