------- Comment #2 From Gilles Dartiguelongue 2008-06-08 21:17:28 0000 -------
which version of glib and gdl do you have ?

------- Comment #3 From Pat Erley 2008-06-08 23:18:22 0000 -------
I am also running into this same build error.

glib 2.16.3 and 1.2.10-r5
gdl 0.7.11

------- Comment #4 From Juergen Rose 2008-06-09 03:39:52 0000 -------
The same here with dev-libs/glib-2.16.3 and dev-libs/gdl-0.7.11.

------- Comment #5 From Rémi Cardona 2008-06-09 08:58:47 0000 -------
Looks like glibc 2.8 breakage :) yay phun!

------- Comment #6 From Sven Müller 2008-06-10 12:20:34 0000 -------
Same here
also glibc-2.8_p20080602 installed

------- Comment #7 From Felix Apitzsch 2008-06-10 13:49:06 0000 -------
I've got the same libs and the same problem.

http://blog.flameeyes.eu/articles/2008/06/09/recognising-glibc-2-8-failures
lists it as a usual problem with glibc 2.8

Adding "append-flags -D_GNU_SOURCE" to the ebuild didn't help. And I don't know
how to add limits.h (which one or where to add).

Any ideas?

patched ebuild

This is the ebuild I used to install gnome-build.

------- Comment #10 From Felix Apitzsch 2008-06-12 19:49:53 0000 -------
Your patched ebuild worked for me, too.
It was (nearly) identical to the one I made for myself and reported not to
work. My fault: I added the "append-flags -D_GNU_SOURCE", but forgot the
"inherit flag-o-matic". Doesn't work without it.

------- Comment #11 From Colin Bennett 2008-06-17 13:42:23 0000 -------
Kristiaan Lenaerts' fixed ebuild in comment #9 makes it work for me!

as dev-zero pointed out about the same issue on freeradius, this works, but, in
the long-run, this is not the way to do this. Better to provide an ebuild that
explicitly patch configure.(in|ac) to have it do the job it should do. Because
this problem is independant on Gentoo as soon as glibc 2.8 is used by other
distros.

------- Comment #13 From Rémi Cardona 2008-07-08 14:57:49 0000 -------
Ok, I've added a even simpler patch to append the flag. Next versions of
gnome-build won't need this hack because the offending code has just been
completely removed. I wanted to backport the patch but it was just too big.

Fixed in portage without a revbump.

Thanks
