The package sci-mathematics/gimps is unusable on a no-multilib AMD64 system, because it's a bin install of a 32-Bit binary. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge gimp 2.file /opt/gimps/mprime 3./opt/gimps/mprime Actual Results: 2. /opt/gimps/mprime: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.2.5, statically linked, stripped 3. -bash: /opt/gimps/mprime: cannot execute binary file Expected Results: 64-bit Let the ebuild fail if it's on a 64 Bit only system.
Hmm, sources[1] are available. The license seems a bit odd: "If you use my source code to find Mersenne primes, you must agree to adhere to the GIMPS prize rules[2]. Other than that restriction, you may use this code as you see fit." [1] ftp://mersenne.org/gimps/source2414.zip [2] http://mersenne.org/prize.htm Would need quite a bit of patching, I'm afraid.
This should be fixed in CVS now. Compiling from source doesn't seem to be an option as it looks like the source is missing some security/encryption-related code.
