All of sudden, Kopete can't connect to icq, but id doesn't show any error message. When I try to connect I can see this in console (as the last mesage): kopete (oscar - raw protocol): [virtual void IcqLoginTask::onGo()] Sending ICQ channel 0x01 login packet Kopete is constantly trying to connect to ICQ, but it does not (I left it overnight, just to be sure it is not a matter of time). Kopete version is 0.12.7 (or 3.5.9, as versioned in portage). I downgraded to Kopete 3.5.6-r2, but it behaves in exactly the same way. I am using SIM on the same pc and it works fine with ICQ. I tried to completely reinstall Kopete (including deleting ~/.kde3.5/share/apps/kopete/ folder and all other related location), but with no sucess. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: The same problem was reported several times on Internet in 2006 (for kopete 0.12.3 or so), it was caused by the change in ICQ protocol and corrected in the subsequent version. However, I didn't find any similar report for the newest version of kopete. it seems that it does not happen generally to all Kopete 0.12.7 users. Actual Results: Kopete is constantly trying to connect to ICQ, but it does not. Expected Results: Kopete should connect to ICQ immediately.
Does the fix described in comment 26 in the URL help? If so comment 41 contains the fix for the tree.

And where may I get kopete-3.5.9-icq-protocol-change.patch, not such a file is attached to this bug report? Kopete is still not working properly, sorry.
Sure I am stupid. I finally found the URL of upstream bug you were referring to :-). Unfortunately, it doesn't help. Neither autoupdate, nor including of [ICQVersion] section to ~/.kde/share/config/kopeterc as described in comment #26.
