Description:   Opened: 2008-05-22 10:37 0000
I was trying to emerge k3b with USE="alsa dvdr dvdread encode ffmpeg flac hal
mp3 musicbrainz vcd vorbis -arts -css -debug -emovix -musepack -sndfile
-xinerama".
It pulled in transcode with :
media-video/transcode-1.0.6_rc2-r1 USE="X a52 dv dvdread iconv imagemagick
jpeg mmx mp3 mpeg ogg quicktime sse sse2 theora truetype vorbis xml xvid -3dnow
(-altivec) -extrafilters -fame -lzo -mjpeg -network -nuv -oss -sdl -v4l2"
but it failed giving :

I have found a workaround/fix(??) for this.
Do
emerge -av1 media-libs/libsdl
and then
emerge -av transcode
and you are done!
Looks like transcode needs libsdl, and a minor change in ebuild should do the
trick.

~S
PS: I have no idea what libsdl is and why transcode needs it, its just my guess
and my observation that feeding libsdl to emerge first allows compiling me
transcode (and eventually k3b)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Make sure media-libs/libsdl is not emerged already
2.emerge -av transcode
[ebuild R ] media-video/transcode-1.0.6_rc2-r1
3.The ebuild fails complaing :
Unable to resolve media-libs/libsdl to an installed package
Actual Results:
Ebuild failed.

Expected Results:
Ebuild should pull libsdl (if it is *really* required by transcode) and emerge
it with USE="X" flag and then continue with transcode

If anyone can find out if transcode *really* needs libsdl then a bug should be
filed for the media-video/transode ebuild to make necessary changes

That was an incredibly stupid oversight on my part. Fixed in CVS.
