Description:   Opened: 2008-05-19 22:23 0000
New version of dcraw 8.86 adds compatibility to newer canons DSLR's. Without
the newer version, raw decode has a very pink cast. media-gfx/ufraw also uses
dcraw to decode raw camera files so it is affected. It also affects digikam,
libkdcraw, and possibly others. Further problem description with patch found
here: http://const.deribin.com/ufraw_and_Canon_450D

I made an ebuild from existing version that works correctly, however, the
gentoo ebuild uses a static link to files off dcraw homepage located here
SRC_URI="http://dev.gentoo.org/~wschlich/src/media-gfx/dcraw/

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge dcraw ufraw digikam
2. open canon 450D raw file in any of these programs
3. all have a pink/red cast to them

Actual Results:
all have a pink/red cast to them

Expected Results:
should not have a pink or red cast to them

well documented problem all over the net:

FYI, dcraw's author policy is that he doesn't like shared libraries. That's why
all these tools ship a bundled copy of dcraw (and why the libkdcraw was
created, so that at least KDE programs don't have to ship dcraw themselves).

In CVS.
