I am able to reproduce the problem (1.9.2 fails, while 1.9.1-r1 works). This should be reported to upstream. Could you please post your emerge --info?

I can confirm this to occur also on Windows XP. After installing 1.9.2 I managed so save couple of images just fine, but after that the program started to crash on every save operation. The error dialog I get says: "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" "Program: C:\Program Files<pathtoexe>" "The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way..."
