I think you may have a problem on you machine, aside from emerge pkgconfig, I
would do revdep-rebuild and emerge --update --deep --newuse world

Won't help, same reason as stated in 216540 - implicit dep which is not
satisfied when for example merging from binpkgs only or emerge --onlydeps
$package && emerge --depclean && emerge $package :)
