===amd64 AT Report===
----------------------------------------------------
*Installation [WARNING], it overwrites some files from lm_sensors-2.*:
* Detected file collision(s):
 *
 * 	/usr/bin/decode-vaio.pl
 * 	/usr/bin/ddcmon
 * 	/usr/bin/decode-edid.pl
 * 	/usr/bin/decode-dimms.pl
 * 	/usr/sbin/i2cdump
 * 	/usr/sbin/i2cdetect
 * 	/usr/sbin/i2cget
 * 	/usr/sbin/i2cset
 * 	/usr/share/man/man8/i2cdetect.8.bz2
 * 	/usr/share/man/man8/i2cset.8.bz2
 * 	/usr/share/man/man8/i2cget.8.bz2
 * 	/usr/share/man/man8/i2cdump.8.bz2
 * 	/usr/include/linux/i2c-dev.h

I have lm_sensors-2.10.4 installed.
Maybe lm_sensors<=3.0 should be a blocker for this? and I think it would be better if we wait to stabilize lm_sensors-3.* first.

*No test.

*Functionality:
#/etc/init.d/lm_sensors stop
#modprobe i2c-dev
The following binaries are provided by the package:
>>> /usr/sbin/i2cdump
>>> /usr/sbin/i2cdetect
>>> /usr/sbin/i2cget
>>> /usr/sbin/i2cset
# i2cdetect -l  [ok].
 i2cdetect -l
i2c-0	smbus SMBus nForce2 adapter at 1c00 SMBus adapter
i2c-1	smbus SMBus nForce2 adapter at 1c40 SMBus adapter
i2c-2	i2c       	NVIDIA i2c adapter              	I2C adapter
i2c-3	i2c       	NVIDIA i2c adapter              	I2C adapter
i2c-4	i2c       	NVIDIA i2c adapter              	I2C adapter
# i2cdetect -V [OK]
# i2cdetect -F 0 [OK]
# i2cdump 0 0x00 b [OK]

Seems to work ok on my system, but see Installation problems before stabilization.

Comment 2 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2008-04-07 02:19:13 UTC
i thought lm_sensors in our tree had dropped the i2ctools pieces ... added a blocker against the 2.x version, thanks

this doesnt require lm_sensors to be stabilized/whatever first
Comment 3 Markus Meier gentoo-dev 2008-04-07 21:07:30 UTC
# emerge -pv i2c-tools

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild  N    ] sys-apps/lm_sensors-2.10.4  USE="-sensord" 0 kB
[ebuild  N    ] sys-apps/i2c-tools-3.0.0  0 kB
[blocks B     ] sys-apps/i2c-tools (is blocking sys-apps/lm_sensors-2.10.4)

Total: 2 packages (2 new, 1 block), Size of downloads: 0 kB

I don't really see how i2c-tools can be emerged as i2c-tools depends on lm_sensors-2 and lm_sensors blocks i2c-tools.
Comment 4 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2008-04-07 21:32:28 UTC
it doesnt actually require lm-sensors ... my commit had a typo (lacked the !)
Comment 5 Markus Meier gentoo-dev 2008-04-09 20:09:31 UTC
 * Detected file collision(s):
 *
 * 	/usr/include/linux/i2c-dev.h
 *
 * Searching all installed packages for file collisions...
 *
 * Press Ctrl-C to Stop
 *
 * sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.23-r3
 * 	/usr/include/linux/i2c-dev.h

should be the last thing...
Comment 6 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2008-04-10 04:38:03 UTC
thanks, fixed in cvs
