or 0.6.6 is fine by me too, for ppc, anyhow 0.6.4-r* needs to be punted from
tree because they are hardcoding =slang-1 dep.

Yes, they should. Because base-system seems unresponsive, CCing arches..

base-system, please advise (should the USE static be dropped entirely?)

USE static failure can be tracked at bug 226649. Slang 1 left tree, old
partimage's with it, obsoleting this bug.
