Description Christoph Brill (egore) (RESIGNED) 2008-03-29 21:54:33 UTC
I have a S-ATA software RAID 1 for my home partition under /dev/md3. The devicenode /dev/md3 is not created by baselayout-2 anymore so mounting fails.

Reproducible: Always
Comment 1 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2008-03-30 02:45:54 UTC
you know you cant file bug reports with no information. we cant read minds and we cant guess at things. device-mapper works on my system with openrc.

please review the bug reporting page:
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/bugzilla-howto.xml

post your `emerge --info` as well as `rc-status show boot` and your /etc/mdadm.conf and /etc/fstab

Comment 6 Christoph Brill (egore) (RESIGNED) 2008-03-30 11:56:43 UTC
Sorry for not posting more info. I had no idea which info might be of use.

Note: All these things were taken from my system after I reverted to baselayout-1
Comment 7 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2008-03-30 15:24:22 UTC
your boot output wont be terribly relevant then ... make sure you have "mdraid" in your boot runlevel when using baselayout-2

i'll add warnings to the openrc ebuild
Comment 8 Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-03-31 14:48:32 UTC
He also should put device-mapper in the boot runlevel.

mdadm & device-mapper ebuilds warn about sticking them into the run level as well.
Comment 9 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2008-03-31 16:09:05 UTC
people dont read warnings

i forgot about device-mapper ... added that to openrc as well, thanks
