Similar with redhat, debian and others I suggest to add logrotate use flag and script for rsync daemon.
Created attachment 145706 [details] rsync logrotate script It could be good idea to rename the logfile to rsyncd.log as well.
included with rsync-3.0.0-r1 http://sources.gentoo.org/net-misc/rsync/files/rsyncd.logrotate?rev=1.1 http://sources.gentoo.org/net-misc/rsync/rsync-3.0.0-r1.ebuild?r1=1.1&r2=1.2
Created attachment 146385 [details] dateext removed to be similar with other default log files
Created attachment 146387 [details] logrotate USE flag added
Sorry for trouble. Could you review and update new files?
added to cvs http://sources.gentoo.org/net-misc/rsync/files/rsyncd.logrotate?r1=1.1&r2=1.2
Thanks. How about the proposed "logrotate" flag? I noticed that some packages (vsftpd, for example) have it. Not a big deal, just out of curiosity.
the trend was to get rid of it rather than expand it
The following line in rsyncd.logrotate will break Augeas parsing. Broken: size=+1024k I checked the logrotate man page, and did not see a '+' prefix being valid for 'size'. The only one I saw was for 'tabooext'. Fix: size=1024k
