Description Steve Arnold archtester gentoo-dev 2008-03-02 00:19:46 UTC
I think it's overdue for stable, also grass-6.2.0-r1 is still a little goofy...

Thanks in advance.

Adding arches to CC list...

please give me a test case. I seriously don't have time to figure this monster out myself.

I have some data from work, but I can't exactly pass it around... If you can build it both with and without all the X and opengl junk, ie:

glw motif opengl tcl tk X and -glw -motif -opengl -tcl -tk -X

and you can start it correctly both ways, that should be enough for now. I know it's a monster... Sorry...

Sparc stable. I'd feel better about this if I had some demo files or something so that I could see it in action --- it looks like fun. But I don't, and I can get it started, at least.

x86 stable
Comment 6 Steve Arnold archtester gentoo-dev 2008-03-06 03:19:16 UTC
It looks like the old GRASS 5 tutorial had both a set of sample data and a tour shell script to exercise the basic functionality, but alas, it's no longer available. The GRASS 6 tutorial is still under development, however, there's plenty of sample data here:

http://grass.ibiblio.org/download/data6.php

The basic dataset is about 20 MBs, and it looks like there may be a useful demo script in the Fire simulation data set, but it looks like it doesn't exercise more than a couple of the fire modules. I got work coming out of my ass right now, so feel free to play with any of the above data, and if you can find/modify/write a demo script then we can go from there. I'll see what I can come up with, but I can't promise much time right now. Thanks...

On amd64: Compiles and runs with X stuff, and loads a dataset.

However, when I compile it with
USE="-X" does not seem to have effect. With USE="jpeg nls png python readline tiff truetype -X -ffmpeg -fftw -glw -gmath -largefile -motif -mysql -odbc -opengl -postgres -sqlite -tcl -tk"
I can still launch grass62 -gui and it starts the GUI properly. Is it ok?

Please, take a look at repoman warnings about quotes...

Comment 9 Steve Arnold archtester gentoo-dev 2008-04-05 02:08:42 UTC
Thanks, and closing; I'll be filing a stable request for the r1 ebuild shortly.
