Just a note to tell everybody that the ebuild is ready. The reason it's not yet in the tree is that I would like to integrate it properly with the new version of sane-backend and I'm in discussion with phosphan about how to do it best. Thanks for your patience.

Since my dev box is down again, just go ahead and remove that comment sign. Should do no harm but please try before committing.

Thanks a lot, I'll do so. I'm also having some practical issues, but I'm hoping to be back soon with a temporary solution. I'll keep everybody posted.

Fixed, thanks for your patience. Dynamic PPD generation doesn't work yet due to some bug that I haven't been able to identify. Since it's a new feature I'm suspecting the configuration script is having trouble with the relocation of some libs into /usr/libexec, but I fail to see what and where. Ideas welcome.
