Description Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-01-31 23:06:16 UTC
hi arches,

it's this time of the release cycle again (or mostly). I'll attach in a minute a file with a line per packages and the list of target keywords like what leio did in bug #199322. Obviously bug #198845 should be taken care of first if it isn't already.

This time it's a semi-automatic generated list so I'd appreciate comments here about how the output could be enhanced or if it's ok and obviously if anybody spots errors please shout out.

This list is based on the gnome meta ebuild and I'll be generating another list that will make it into another bug report. Gstreamer stabilization has the approval of zaheerm on irc.

Comment 2 Mart Raudsepp gentoo-dev 2008-01-31 23:26:22 UTC
Adding release team, as we would like to have all the bug fixes in 2.20.3 on the 2008.0 release media. As the snapshot time is nearing (~24 hours from the moment of this comment writing), I heard release team would be happy if stabilization would be done before that.
Comment 3 Brent Baude (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-02-01 02:54:34 UTC
Trying to beat the deadline here ;)

I'm seeing a configuration failure on gnome-base/gnome-menus-2.20.3 on ppc. I didn't see it on ppc64, so this could be environmental (like a dep on one machine that isn't on the other). If anyone can set me straight on this, I can probably beat the snapshot time.

like so:

checking for python platform... linux2
checking for python script directory... ${prefix}/lib/python2.4/site-packages
checking for python extension module directory... ${exec_prefix}/lib/python2.4/site-packages
checking for headers required to compile python extensions... not found
configure: error: Building python explicitly requested, but can't build python bindings

Thoughts/ideas?
Comment 4 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-02-01 07:42:27 UTC
@ranger:
If you have python 2.4.4-r6, it should just work. If it's not working, please open a bug and attach your python-config and usual informations.

x86 stable, don't forget gnome-2.20.3 and gnome-light-2.20.3 meta packages.
Comment 7 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-02-01 15:43:52 UTC
Hi there,

gstreamer and gst-plugins-good deps in the meta have just been lowered in the meta because I've been told 0.10.15 broke mp3 playback. See drac for details.

On other news, if you have python-2.3 some package might show configure failures, this is to be expected. I'm not sure what's the best solution yet considering recent threads on gentoo-dev ml. In the meantime, you can just remove python-2.3 from your system or change the link of python-config to python 2.4 version.
Comment 8 Brent Baude (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-02-01 19:10:13 UTC
Ok, I believe I got everything for ppc and ppc64 with the following to report:

* We package use masked mono from gnome to avoid inclusion of tomboy which segfaults on ppc now.

The following packages, somewhat expectantly, failed one or more of its tests:

gstreamer ppc ppc64
gst-plugins-base ppc ppc64
gtk+ ppc
gnome-keyring ppc64
gnome-vfs ppc64

He means gstreamer and gst-plugins-base. Please do NOT stabilize the 0.10.5 versions per drac.

on amd64:

well, i'm a gnome user, and i've updated to 2.20.3 more then 6 hours ago. seems to work very well for me. however it should be noted, that

Maybe, RESTRICT="test" should be used here... I also want to say, that i'm using something in between gnome-base/gnome-light and gnome-base/gnome (essentially this means no epiphany and no games) thus i've neither installed nor tested all the packages in the attached list.

Hi,

no activity since february. And gnome 2.20.3 is allready stable, isn't it? Can this bug get closed?
Comment 18 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-11-21 00:07:45 UTC
not until the arch listed in CC are finished with the attached list.

removing m68k and s390, besides their loosing of some keywords with due bug reports filled, it seems they did their job.
Comment 21 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-01-28 23:12:02 UTC
arm/sh, I guess there is nothing to expect nearly one year later. So please move on to 2.22 stabilization. I'm closing this fixed even though obsolete would be better suited.
