Description:   Opened: 2008-01-31 13:41 0000
dev-lisp/clisp depends on virtual/tetex, at least since clisp-2.38-r1. I don't
see any reason for that since clisp runs fine without tetex (I emerged it with
--nodeps option to circumvent the dependency). Some people suggested that the
dependency could result from usage of the "doc" useflag, but I have explicitly
excluded this useflag in /etc/make.conf (see 'emerge --info' output below).
Furthermore, I couldn't find any reason in the ebuild's changelog as well as in
the README.Gentoo file, so I suppose the dependency is actually a bug.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
By trying to emerge clisp: emerge -at clisp
By checking the ebuild file: grep -C 2 tetex
/usr/portage/dev-lisp/clisp/clisp-2.41.ebuild (or any other version)
Actual Results:
virtual/tetex (and in turn, any version of app-text/tetex) is needed to emerge
clisp

Expected Results:
virtual/tetex (and in turn, any version of app-text/tetex) should not be needed
to emerge clisp

...and in case it depends on some TeX implementation it should provide the
option to use texlive which may go stable soon: see #195815

Pacth for the clisp-2.43-r1.ebuild

Removes the virtual/tetex dependency. All documentation in the clisp archive
is prebuild and is just installed anyway.

Tested by me on amd64, but this should not be platform dependent, so it should
just work :)

------- Comment #3 From cdep.illabout@gmail.com 2008-05-03 22:48:22 0000 -------
This works for me on x86.

------- Comment #4 From Christian Faulhammer 2008-09-02 22:32:53 0000 -------
Removed dependency, thanks for the report.
