There is a new version of virtualbox out there, so app-emulation/virtualbox,
app-emulation/virtualbox-bin and app-emulation/virtualbox-additions schould be
updated to these new versions.

Do you know something about 2.6.24 kernel issues? there are some patch on
virtualbox.org's trac (though I'm on .23 here so can't test)

a version bump for virtualbox-1.5.4 is available on jokey's overlay[1]

just tested virtualbox-modules-1.5.4 with sys-kernel/vanilla-sources-2.6.24_rc5 
it builds without the patch provided in virtualbox-modules-1.5.2
