Description James Cloos 2003-04-22 05:37:47 UTC
When in a multibyte locale, inclusing uft-8 locales, bash is known to be slow
repainting long command lines. A patch was submitted to bash-bugs, debian and
suse; apparently only suse now includes it.

The bash-bugs post submitting the patch is at:

http://mail.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-bash/2002-12/msg00057.html

The patch itself is linked in the above as:

http://mail.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-bash/2002-12/bin00044.bin

There has been a recent thread about this in linux-utf8@nl.linux.org under the
subject: UTF-8 Locales in Linux Distributions.

Adding this patch to the ebuild for many of us.
