Description Renato Alves 2007-10-22 21:35:20 UTC
The current stable package net-print/hplip-1.7.4a-r2 leaves a file called dll.conf on /var/tmp/portage i.e. outside of the emerge folder.

This doesn't seem to do any harm except the fact that this could be a potential issue to other files and a security problem too.

Thanks

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge hplip
2. check /var/tmp/portage
3.

No big deal but not very clean either, so I fixed it. Note that the ebuild for the newer 2.x branch had the same issue. Thanks for reporting this.

Denis.

Was the fix added to portage?

I'm having this problem again with the same version, i.e. latest stable, net-print/hplip-1.7.4a-r2.

Yes, but in the new generation stuff only. I've just asked for stabilization for it.

Denis.
Comment 5 Renato Alves 2007-12-21 22:47:42 UTC
OK thanks for the info.

Will leave it open until next stable comes out or this version is no longer needed in portage.

Please close the bug when the next stable comes out.

Thanks again for your time and support.
Comment 6 Renato Alves 2007-12-25 20:44:46 UTC
I just upgraded to the new stable version: hplip-2.7.10

The dll.conf is still left behind. It seems that is not fixed yet...
Comment 7 Denis Dupeyron (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-04-04 14:44:16 UTC
This should definitely be fixed with hplip-2.8.2 thanks partly to a fix I just committed in sane-backends.

Denis.
