Description:   Opened: 2007-10-21 16:42 0000
After compiling soundtracker-0.6.8 with the alsa use flag, soundtracker fails
to provide me with the option to use alsa output.

Although all other applications seem to work fine with alsa, I noticed this in
the config output for soundtracker:
....
checking for setresuid... yes
checking for snd_pcm_plug_open in -lasound... yes
*** ALSA v0.9 found on your system. No audio drivers available
*** for ALSA v0.9. No problem, just use OSS driver or JACK instead.
checking for esd-config... /usr/bin/esd-config
checking for ESD - version >= 0.2.8... yes
checking for esd_play_stream... no
....

I suppose it's possible that I'm doing something wrong, but no other
applications have complained about alsa drivers.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set alsa use flag in make.conf
2. Compile soundtracker
3. Start soundtracker, go to settings and Audio configuration and attempt to
switch to the ALSA sound system.

Actual Results:
Option is missing.

Expected Results:
Option should be present.

I'm marking this bug as Major since it prevents me from using this program
effectively.

------- Comment #4 From Stian Skjelstad 2007-12-02 13:39:54 0000 -------
from http://www.soundtracker.org/requirements.php3

The ALSA driver supports only the v0.4.x and v0.5.x architectures of ALSA. For
later versions, please use the OSS emulation included with ALSA, and the
standard OSS driver from SoundTracker. If you want to make use of the MIDI
input features of SoundTracker, please install one of the supported ALSA
versions.

Looks like the project needs a new upstream maintainer

------- Comment #5 From Samuli Suominen 2008-05-15 21:05:12 0000 -------
Removed USE alsa, we can use jack or oss.
