For the upcoming snapshot I'd like cryptsetup 1.0.5-r1 stabilized. Any issues let me know on this bug.
go go gadget arches ;)
x86 stable
stable on ppc
Stable for HPPA.
ppc64 stable
just a short question: why is there no /bin/cryptsetup anymore? there's only /sbin/cryptsetup
Because upstream felt like moving it? Go ask them :P Also, a stabilization bug (or any unrelated bug) is not the proper place for asking random questions.
amd64 stable
Can we get this upped in priority for release, please? Thanks in advance.
This is mostly addressed to sparc developers who are more clever than I am: I am not sure how to test this and make it stable for sparc, because it includes an init script, and the /etc/init.d/dmcrypt script will not run unless we are baselayout-2. It's probably possible to check cryptsetup itself, although that presents some problems, too: (1) Unless we have disks we wish to destroy, it seems we need to use a loop-back device (possible according to the conf.d/dmcrypt file); (2) some systems (like my SB1000) are currently stuck with kernels <= 2.6.17 because of some kernel/scsi incompatibilities, and cryptsetup seems to really want >=2.6.19 (I've built every CRYPTO module possible for my kernel, I think, but I haven't found any way to get cryptsetup to use any of them. Its home page does not supply much help; perhaps I'll end up reading the Gentoo howtoo in German.) By the way, at build time the configure script told me that with my kernel I could not use CBC, so I am not sure why it went ahead and built it in.
Well, baselayout2 isn't a candidate for stable at this time, so nothing to do with the init script is really necessary, since it is only used for baselayout2. A loopback test it just fine. We're running dangerously close to when I really need this done, so any help I can give, I will.
alpha/ia64 stable, thanks Tobias
