Why is this bug marked as FIXED?! Attach the complete output of `MAKEOPTS="-j1" emerge =sys-devel/binutils-2.18-r1 &> emerge.log here, there's no error visible above.

Ok, it seems that the update to texinfo-4.11 ist responsible for this error. Downgrading texinfo to 4.8-r5 makes binutils build again.
Created attachment 132911 [details] config.log from bfd build dir
blah, binutils has a stupid version check that texinfo-4.11 fails if ${MAKEINFO} --version \ | egrep 'texinfo[^0-9]*([1-3][0-9]|4\.[4-9]|[5-9])' >/dev/null 2>&1; then
should be fixed in cvs now
