------- Comment #2 From Jakub Moc (RETIRED) 2007-10-08 11:01:08 0000 -------
Why is this bug marked as FIXED?! Attach the complete output of `MAKEOPTS="-j1"
emerge =sys-devel/binutils-2.18-r1 &> emerge.log here, there's no error visible
above.

------- Comment #3 From Rémi Cardona 2007-10-08 11:22:07 0000 -------
Jiri, I'm having this bug as well. How did you fix it?

@toolchain herd, I tried with MAKEOPTS="", MAKEOPTS="-j1", it still fails.

WARNING: `makeinfo' is missing on your system. You should only need it if
you modified a `.texi' or `.texinfo' file, or any other file
indirectly affecting the aspect of the manual. The spurious
call might also be the consequence of using a buggy `make' (AIX,
DU, IRIX). You might want to install the `Texinfo' package or
the `GNU make' package. Grab either from any GNU archive site.

I must retract this, texinfo is installed on my system. I can call it at
command line. Only the build doesn't find it.

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ] sys-apps/texinfo-4.11

someone attach the config.log from the bfd build directory

checking for makeinfo...

------- Comment #15 From Johannes Hirte 2007-10-08 12:20:14 0000 -------
Ok, it seems that the update to texinfo-4.11 ist responsible for this error.
Downgrading texinfo to 4.8-r5 makes binutils build again.

blah, binutils has a stupid version check that texinfo-4.11 fails

if ${MAKEINFO} --version \
    | egrep 'texinfo[^0-9]*([1-3][0-9]|4\.[4-9]|[5-9])' >/dev/null 2>&1; then

------- Comment #18 From SpanKY 2007-10-08 14:37:38 0000 -------
should be fixed in cvs now
