Description:   Opened: 2007-10-05 10:07 0000
Installing just vmware-server-console-1.0.4.56528 on a machine that has no
other vmware packages gives several errors during emerge, e.g.

--- /usr/share/mime/packages/
>>> /usr/share/mime/packages/vmware-server-console.xml
--- /usr/share/applications/
>>> /usr/share/applications/vmware-server-console-vmware-server-console.desktop
--- /usr/share/pixmaps/
>>> /usr/share/pixmaps/vmware-server-console.png
chown: `root:vmware': invalid group

The message displayed on the screen says:

 * Remember, in order to run VMware Server Console, you have to
 * be in the 'vmware' group.

However no vmware group is created during install. This has the effect that
when vmware server console refuses to run, and the the program files have the
wrong group set (root:root instead of root:vmware).

Could the ebuild be modified to add a vmware group by default if it doesn't
exist.

Reproducible: Always

Thanks, this has been fixed in the overlay and should be pushed out to the main
tree after a period of testing... 5:)

Sorry for the delay, this has now made it's way into the main tree. Give it a
couple of hours to synchronize and then give it a go. I'm going to mark the
bug as FIXED, but if you have any problems, please feel free to reopen the bug.
 5:)
