Description Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-09-23 20:06:01 UTC
Needs to go stable because it no longer uses libdts which is deprecated. This version is not yet using swscaler but is much a like our current stable.

(Note that 0.4.9_p20070616-r1 can't go stable yet, because it enables "new" swscaler which breaks our current vlc and dvbcut, possibly others.)

It fails for you and someone else with p20070330 so..

- Is it a regression that should stop stabilizing? No..
- Should it be fixed? Sure..
- Yet another ffmpeg & hardened issue? Maybe..

[ebuild U ] media-video/ffmpeg-0.4.9_p20070616 [0.4.9_p20070330] USE="X encode mmx ogg oss sdl test truetype vorbis zlib -a52 -aac (-altivec) -amr -debug -doc -ieee1394 -imlib -network -theora -threads -v4l -x264 -xvid (-dts%)"

Compiles. ffplay works. Other goodies work.

amd64, you realize that _new stable users_ are getting unnecessary blockers which means installing deprecated library, libdts, then re-emerging (revdep-rebuilding) both xine-lib and mplayer because this isn't stable yet?
Comment 13 Steve Dibb (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-10-21 15:55:36 UTC
amd64 stable
Comment 14 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-01-10 16:27:37 UTC
vapier, coral is down and I can't test this version of ffmpeg myself. getting
this version stable is required for phasing out media-libs/libdts, which is
now replaced by media-libs/libdca -- in fact, this is the last remaining thing that's blocking it.

if this version of ffmpeg has issues on arm, we'd (media-video) like to know
about it.

thanks
