This is the patch that has been proposed on the gnome bugzilla. This has not been acknowledged by the official devs.

I can confirm that this patch fixed the segfault problem for me (AMD64).  I couldn't apply it without some minor modifications, though, so I'll attach the new patch and the modified ebuild.

The patch is invalid.  This should be fixed in -r1 though.
