Description Roy Marples (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-08-30 12:55:14 UTC
Stable keywords for both please. We're keeping the 3.0.x stuff in the tree as that's what NetworkManager requires. But it's time to get 3.1.0 stable as it has some important DHCP server fixes over 3.0.x

Thanks.
Comment 1 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-08-30 17:25:51 UTC
Both stable for HPPA.
Comment 2 Jurek Bartuszek (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-08-30 19:14:54 UTC
x86 done
Comment 3 David Carlos Manuelda 2007-09-01 02:17:23 UTC
But it also breaks NetworkManager which does not work with >=3.1.0
Comment 4 David Carlos Manuelda 2007-09-01 02:18:06 UTC
There are various examples over the internet, this is just one of them:

Which is why we're keeping 3.0.x in the tree which works with NetworkManager. I've been asking the NetworkManager devs to fix the depends for this, but they haven't. This should not stop dhcp-3.1.0 from being stabled.
Comment 6 Tobias Klausmann (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-09-02 11:49:59 UTC
Both 3.0.6 and 3.1.0 work dandy on alpha, tested both client and daemon.

net-misc/dhcp-3.0.6 [3.1.0] USE="-doc -minimal (-selinux) -static"
net-misc/dhcp-3.1.0 USE="-doc -minimal (-selinux) -static"

1. Emerges on AMD64.
2. No collisions etc.
3. Works against my other computer running dhcpcd-3.0.16-r1. Can both optain new IP and renew existing lease.

Could you please make a depchange in networkmanager until its issues are resolved or ping maintainer to do it? In its current form it breaks the stable tree.

The devs who maintain NetworkManager were notified of this a few months ago. Go ask them to kindly pull their finger out on bug #185888.

Marked ppc/ppc64 stable.
Comment 14 Jorge Manuel B. S. Vicetto (RETIRED) Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev 2007-09-09 18:15:07 UTC
Both dhcp-3.0.6 and dhcp-3.1.0 emerged fine here on sparc64 without any warnings. I was able to use dhclient to get an ip and to get a lease and renew it from the dhcpd server.

Tested with:
net-misc/dhcp-3.0.6 (doc kernel_linux minimal static)
net-misc/dhcp-3.0.6 (kernel_linux minimal)
net-misc/dhcp-3.0.6 (kernel_linux static)
net-misc/dhcp-3.0.6 (kernel_linux)

net-misc/dhcp-3.1.0 (doc kernel_linux minimal static)
net-misc/dhcp-3.1.0 (kernel_linux minimal)
net-misc/dhcp-3.1.0 (kernel_linux static)
net-misc/dhcp-3.1.0 (kernel_linux)

I've tested dhcp-3.0.6 and dhcp-3.1.0 again with the above use flags combinations and it also emerges fine here.
