Hi!

libpopt is installed by two different packages ( dev-libs/popt and app-arch/rpm
) which can lead to problems, see
http://lists.gentoo.org/pipermail/gentoo-user/2002-April/021057.html

I guess I would suggest, preventing app-arch/rpm from installing its libpopt and
if necessary make it depend on dev-libs/popt

FYI (notes for me)

rpm-3.0.6 uses popt-1.3.5 ?

rpm-4.0.4 uses popt-1.6 ?

I took the liberty of fixing this, because I needed it working. The new
revision of rpm has a big makefile patch to make it use the system libpopt. It
may be convertible to a few seds but it's not trivial.
