Please consider emacs-jabber-0.7.1for stabilization. I've been using it over a month and it works quite well. The 0.7 version has been out since January and there is no stable version on portage. I used jabberes.org as XMPP server. Just for the record, I've done everything as another user, so the .emacs only contains the call to site-gentoo.el

Should be fixed now; no revbump since it is a build-time issue: 22 Aug 2007; Ulrich Mueller <ulm@gentoo.org> emacs-jabber-0.7.1.ebuild: Partly undo change of 20 Jun 2007 to fix build with USE=-sasl, bug #187520. Please test again, both with USE=-sasl and USE=sasl.
x86 still happy
This needs app-emacs/flim, app-emacs/limit, and virtual/flim stable on AMD64 as well.
