The dependencies for povray need to be updated to include jpeg.

looks like you need to add tiff as well...

is it required for compile or could this be done with USE flags ?

They are required for compilation.  povray was the first thing I emerged after my 'emerge 
system', and the compilation failed because it couldn't find the jpeg and tiff headers.  It is 
not offered as an option for povray, it is actually required.
