Description Henrik Thelin 2007-06-30 03:07:40 UTC
The latest svn version of fluxbox doesn't group applications from the groups file.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. for example, put the line "gvim gvim" in ~/.fluxbox/groups
2. start gvim twice on same workspace
3.

Actual Results:
new gvim window opens every time I start gvim on the same workspace

Expected Results:
expected a new tab (internal) if an existing gvim is on the same workspace

I have alerted upstream of this bug, it should be fixed soon, whereupon I will release a new snapshot.

But there's a workaround - The groups file is actually deprecated... you can do the same job (and more besides) in the apps file. Here's more info:

http://fluxbox-wiki.org/index.php/Howto_edit_the_apps_file

The groups file isn't actually supposed to be going away until after the actual 1.0 release.
Comment 2 Jim Ramsay (lack) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-06-30 04:38:25 UTC
That was fast... a quick fix from upstream and a new SVN snapshot. This is fixed in fluxbox-1.0_rc3_p4949

Big thanks to _markt in #fluxbox for the excellent and quick fix.
