Both runs perfectly here.

The driver loads and unloads without problems.
I have full hardware acceleration while gaming or using GL -vo in mplayer.

The nvidia-settings app is very useful, that version allows
detecting/configuring display devices without restarting X.
This nvidia-settings version never crashed and allowed me to use external
display devices like projectors and TVs.

I'm using this driver+app combination for at least one month.

HW: nVIDIA GeforceFX 53xx Go
