x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-1.0.9755-r1 and media-video/nvidia-settings-1.0.20070302 Both runs perfectly here. The driver loads and unloads without problems. I have full hardware acceleration while gaming or using GL -vo in mplayer. The nvidia-settings app is very useful, that version allows detecting/configuring display devices without restarting X. This nvidia-settings version never crashed and allowed me to use external display devices like projectors and TVs. I'm using this driver+app combination for at least one month.
