Description Hilco 2007-05-29 16:41:45 UTC
After upgrading to KDE 3.5.7 KMail's filters no longer work. This is apparently a known KDE bug (see URL). For me it's always happened but apparently other people have seen intermittent success.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start KMail
2. Filters don't run
3.

Actual Results:
The filtering code just hangs but eventually times out. KMail appears to be functional apart from the filters.

Expected Results:
The filters should work.

Well, I can't get any word about reverting r650963 out of upstream. I've tried for more than one month now and got no response on email, IRC, IM, the upstream bug, etc. :-(

If someone with better connections can get a confirmation that reverting this is an acceptable workaround (i. e. it won't break other important stuff), I'll gladly apply this.

I have spoken with Wulf about this and looked through the commit history of this patch. Looks like coolo commented only to port if it proves stable. It would seem it is not stable wrt to filtering and so reverting the commit would seem our best option. I have added a comment on the upstream bug too and will keep an eye out for more ideal solutions should they become available.
Comment 5 Wulf Krueger (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-07-10 06:12:45 UTC
kde-base/kmail-3.5.7-r1 is fixed.
kde-base/kdepim-3.5.7-r2 is currently compiling here and therefore not yet in the tree.
Comment 6 Wulf Krueger (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-07-10 16:45:18 UTC
kde-base/kdepim-3.5.7-r2 is now in the tree. Have fun!

I just re-emerged kmail, based on this "patch" and kmail is still broken. Upon request, I will add an additional comment with backtrace infi.
