[I--] [ ~] sys-fs/udev-111-r2 (0)

Udev don't start at boot, I've got login after ~5 sec. All files of init.d has
been not started (for example, localmount , clock, gmp, xdm,keymaps... and
more). The problem is udevstart, I must start him after login then all init.d
files start.

Reproducible: Always

emerge --info please.

all version of udev < 111-r2 work's, but 111-r2 don't work

It totally hosed one of my ~x86 laptops.  Had to copy over the udev "sbin"
files from the other to get it to boot.  The error message was related to
/lib/rcscripts/addons/mdev-start.sh

Can confirm. The boot process totally shat itself.

This bug is caused by the new added line:
IN_HOTPLUG=1 /etc/init.d/udev-postmount start

returning an exit-code of non-zero. As this is the last cmd this code is taken
for udev-start.sh exit-code, and baselayout thinks udev failed.
Thus it tries to start mdev if avail, and that fails.

udev-111-r3 should solve this by returning an exit-code of 0.

and ?  we respect addons exit status on purpose in case there is a problem ...

well ok, but udev returning nonzero triggers mdev to be executed
Sadly busybox does not install the binary mdev, so it fails.

if we cant run udev, then we need *something* and mdev is our next best

i'll tweak the code to try `busybox mdev` if `mdev` doesnt work

Why is udev-postmount returning a non-zero status?
