Description Jordan 2007-05-26 01:06:48 UTC
openbox 3.4 testing releases are out...as well as new obconf versions to go with it.

see download page here:

http://icculus.org/openbox/index.php/Openbox:Download

ebuild works if i just rename it, although I believe pango is now required so we can probably remove the "use" check and just make it a dependency all the time.

Ah, it seems quite a bit happened while I was out of town. I will get to updating this as soon as possible (tomorrow I would hope), as I want to try out the new openbox release just as much as you folks do. :)

Thanks for the bug report.

Okay. I have a working ebuild, but as a lot has changed, I'm going to give it a few days of use before committing anything.

3.3.995 is out now, updating summary. Supposedly 3.4 final is going to be coming soon.

I'll attach the ebuild I've been using; if it's any help, all the better. obconf has been rewritten from the ground up, most notably is that it's now written in Ruby. I don't really know anything about Ruby so I haven't been able to hack together an ebuild yet, although when I did get it more-or-less installed it wasn't fully functional (I would have preferred to get a bug report, but back to me not knowing anything about Ruby).

Woo, now I look silly as the Ruby-based obconf2 is no longer on the wiki. (See: http://icculus.org/openbox/index.php?title=ObConf:About&oldid=612 ) Attached is an ebuild for obconf-1.6.3 which is updated to use >=ob-3.3.990 (i.e. ob-3.4).

Sorry for the bugspam; I feel sufficiently silly.

Thanks for the ebuilds, Bill. Apparently, openbox 3.4 and obconf 2.0 are going to be released REALLY soon, so I'm going to wait for that before committing. :)

Openbox 3.4.0 and ObConf 2.0.0 have been released. I have updated the ebuilds for them and tested them, and everything seems to be working fine. Just committed them to the tree. Thanks for the improvements, Bill. :)

Happy Openboxing!
