Description Mauricio L. Pilla (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-05-23 17:48:34 UTC
When I try to install the lastest kdeutils (3.5.7, masked for now), it stops when patching klaptopdaemon with klaptopdaemon-3.5-suspend2+xsession-errors.diff .

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. unmask kde monolithic ebuilds for 3.5.7
2. emerge kdeutils
3. ....
4. profit (not really)
Actual Results:
* Applying klaptopdaemon-3.5-suspend2+xsession-errors.diff ...

 * Failed Patch: klaptopdaemon-3.5-suspend2+xsession-errors.diff !
 *  ( /var/tmp/portage/kde-base/kdeutils-3.5.7/work/patches//klaptopdaemon-3.5-suspend2+xsession-errors.diff )
 *
 * Include in your bugreport the contents of:
 *
 *   /var/tmp/portage/kde-base/kdeutils-3.5.7/temp/klaptopdaemon-3.5-suspend2+xsession-errors.diff-27345.out

Expected Results:
it should have cleanly applied the patch.

I've got this error , you must try this: (not recommend)
emerge kdeutils (while unpacked but before patching, press ctrl-z)
> /var/tmp/portage/kde-base/kdeutils-3.5.7/work/patches/klaptopdaemon-3.5-suspend2+xsession-errors.diff
(we are create empty file)
after this , press fg
and it's work ;)

Yes, but then you miss the patch and whatever it's supposed to do. I'm not in a hurry to get kde 3.5.7, I just wanted to help finding the bugs before it goes ~. But thanks anyway.

Comment 4 Eike Hein 2007-05-25 13:20:42 UTC
At least part of the patch is obsolete -- dfaure committed a more elegant patch for the .xsession-errors problem for 3.5.7.

The whole kdeutils patchset could use some checking, actually, Lubos copying over the XAutoLock code from KDesktop to KLaptopDaemon might obsolete klaptopdaemon-3.5-lock-and-hibernate.patch as well.
Comment 5 Marcus D. Hanwell (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-05-25 13:58:47 UTC
I have excluded the klaptopdaemon-3.5-suspend2+xsession-errors.diff in both kdeutils and kdelaptopdaemon. It is not a very nice patch anyway, too long and mixing things it fixes. If it is still needed then it should be separated anyway.

I have also commented on the upstream http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143859 as I think that lock patch also needs review. Thanks to you guys for the help on this bug.
