Since 7th of march 2007 avasys has released another version of iscan:
2.6.0-0.c2. This version adds support for new scanners. Quoting README file:

 ----------------------------------------------------------------------
 iscan-2.6.0 (2007-03-07)
 ----------------------------------------------------------------------
  * adds support for the following scanners:
    - PX-A620
It doesn't support "Image Scanning!" for other arches but x86, like previous

huh? where did you find it?

I don't find it here:
http://www.avasys.jp/english/linux_e/dl_scan.html

though, when I bump the latest ebuild to 2.6.0, it pulls the right tarball. But
I don't know if there's a firmware or such needed also.
