Now one thing is do notice is when emerge -vup world is calculating the dependencies I get the following message:

Calculating world dependencies /
!!! Ebuilds for the following packages are either all
!!! masked or don't exist:
dev-util/eclipse-gef-bin

I'm not sure if this is related or not but I know that eclipse-gef-bin isn't part of my world so it shouldn't be trying to find it unless something in the update depended on it........right?

Anyway, the mask info on eclipse-gef-bin is:

- dev-util/eclipse-gef-bin-3.0.1 (masked by: package.mask)
# Petteri Räty <betelgeuse@gentoo.org> (30 Apr 2007)
# Please use the Eclipse update manager to install these.
# The ebuilds are for Eclipse <3.2 and those versions are going to be
# removed. If you want these to be installable via emerge, please submit from
# source ebuilds that work with 3.2. (Might not be as easy as it sounds). In
# Java junkyard after 30 days. If there is a compelling reason to keep these,
# please mail gentoo-java mailing list or java@gentoo.org.

If whoever looks at this needs more information feel free to ask (philip@lightbox.org)

I'm not sure if this has been reported yet but I couldn't find a bug so if it is a duplicate I apologize.

1 more thing, I have update my java-config according to the steps found at
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/java/java-upgrade.xml

but I encountered the bug both before and after following the update steps

Nevermind that whole bit about eclipse-gef-bin, apparently it is part of my world but has been masked because it is slated for removal from the tree.

What's output of:
ls /usr/share/ant/lib/
Comment 4 Philip Graham 2007-05-04 20:12:19 UTC
ls: cannot access /usr/share/ant/lib/: No such file or directory
Comment 5 Vlastimil Babka (Caster) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-05-04 20:26:29 UTC
what version of ant-tasks is installed? if it's 1.7.0-rX where X < 2, then you need 1.7.0-r2, the older aren't even in the tree no more - should use emerge --deep --update to upgrade all dependencies.
Comment 6 Philip Graham 2007-05-04 21:03:25 UTC
Version was less then r2 so I'm running an update with --deep now however I didn't know about the --deep option until now so it's updating 91 packages and might take a while. Since it's 5 o'clock on Friday here (don't know where you are) I'll post back on wether or not it worked on Monday.

Thanks though, I'm sure knowing about the --deep option will be helpful.

Cheers.

OK, I've fixed the deps so it pulls the correct revision even without --deep. So I'm setting this FIXED. If it didn't help, please reopen.

Yeah, I recommend that :)
