There're still a number of annoying minor, sometimes longstading, issues, but overall it's quite bearable. I propose targeting stabilization of KDE 3.5.6 in four weeks from now. That allows enough testing of the latest kdelibs revision and leaves some time to look at other bugs.
sounds good to me. I think 3.5.7 will be out by then too.
only one dependent bug? ;)
What about bug 177035 ? That one bugs me on 3.5.6-r1 even with USE=debug ...
(In reply to comment #2) > only one dependent bug? ;) A lot more, but I won't start adding them before next week. Guys, please stop using this tracker asking for your pet bugs. Bug 169289 isn't relevant for stabilization and no I don't intend to do anything about bug 177035. We don't have enough human ressources and seems not to be a regression to 3.5.5. Vote on the upstream bug or have a look at the code yourself. A patch is welcome.
o.k., staring a bit earlier
Bug 163853 is a dependecy of this one.
We're way behind our schedule so stabilising 3.5.6 doesn't really make sense anymore. Thus, we're recycling this bug for the stabilisation of KDE 3.5.7.
Bug 163853 is still a dependecy of this one, I think :P
Added a few more dependencies. (Yes, 163853 is in, too. :-) )
Maybe Bug 178693 should be removed from depend list: >=www-misc/htdig-3.2.0_beta6-r2 is stable in every arch except mips. However, KDE-3.5.7 isn't going to be stable in mips, because it isn't keyworded in that arch (see kdebase as an example). So now Bug 178693 doesn't block this anymore and should be removed.

Ok, I've now attached the stabilisation lists. kde-3.5.7-everything-package.keywords.txt is a complete arch-agnostic list in package.keywords format. The other lists are arch-specific and for both the monolithic and the split/meta packages. All (unless I've missed something :) ) deps (including expat and aspell) are included for your convenience as they have to be done together anyway. :) Should I have missed a newer revision, please stabilise that. Be sure to stabilise this stuff together with the blockers of this bug, please. Please raise question or concerns here or bug me on IRC in #gentoo-kde. Arches will be cc'ed later this night when the Gnome herd has finished their final polishing. Don't be surprised if either a KDE herd or the Gnome herd member CCs the arches on the other one's bug respectively. This is perfectly fine as discussed between leio and myself. After all, we're all working on free desktops!
Arches, please go for it! Please take note of comment #27. You should commit the stabilisation as much as possible at the same time as the stabilisations in bug 187730 (expat-2.0.1), bug 187731 (curl-7.6.14 and pycurl) and bug 185823 (GNOME-2.18), bug 178690 (aspell and its dicts) for maximum user convenience, because the expat and curl new versions break ABI and many GNOME and KDE packages - by doing it at the same time the user doesn't need to recompile so much, as he/she can do the upgrade and recompile at the same time then.

(Which are, apart from dcopperl, all included in the "everything"-list.) Sorry for missing them in the first place in the individual lists.
sparc stable with the added bonus of kdesdk & kdesdk-meta.
Marked ppc stable.
alpha/ia64 stable, i hope i didn't left anything out
ppc64 stable
amd64 stable
At least these two packages are missing in the amd64 stabilization: kde-base/kdesdk-kfile-plugins kde-base/kompare Please, add amd64 to the CC list.

(In reply to comment #36) > kde-base/kdesdk-kfile-plugins > kde-base/kompare kde-base/kdesdk-kioslaves-3.5.7 kde-base/kcachegrind-3.5.7 (Bug 188429)

I'm still missing kde-base/cervisia-3.5.7 and kde-base/kdesdk-meta-3.5.7 on amd64. Additionally the following kde-base/*-3.5.7 packages seems to be missing on all arches: =kde-base/artsplugin-mpeglib-3.5.7 =kde-base/kdat-3.5.7 =kde-base/kpackage-3.5.7 =kde-base/kpilot-3.5.7 =kde-base/ksysv-3.5.7 =kde-base/kuiviewer-3.5.7 =kde-base/pykde-3.5.7

Please note that kde-base/kpilot-3.5.7 is masked and does NOT go stable.
alpha/ia64/x86 stable, i guess. Feel free to readd if i missed something :)
All marked stable on amd64 apart from =kde-base/pykde-3.5.7 which won't compile here with dev-python/PyQt-3.14.1-r1 (and dev-python/PyQt-3.14.1-r2 is marked -amd64). Bringing in python@g.o in the hope that they'll be able to help.
Philantrop, the reason PyQt-3.14.1-r2 is marked -amd64 is because of bug #155170. That bug can easily be resolved by applying the patch in comment #42. Apart from that, I'll look into testing pykde in a few days...
kpilot-3.5.7 sparc stable. kuiviewer-3.5.7 and kdat-3.5.7 were already stable. pykde, artsplugin-mpeglib, kpackage and ksysv don't have ~sparc keywords.
Stable for HPPA.
stable on ppc, except for kpilot.
Thanks, guys, we're done here for now. The remaining issues (pykde, kpilot) will be dealt with in their respective individual bugs.
