Tonight a livecd 2006.1 install crashed towards the end , when trying to install syslog-ng. I got into the system fine despite the aborted install, and proceeded to emerge vixie-cron and syslog-ng and finish up the install to the best of my ability, system seems a-ok. Not sure if this bug is related to aborted install. Everything emerged fine except syslog-ng. Full error says " A file listed in the Manifest could not be found : /usr/portage/app-admin/syslog-ng/files/syslog-ng.rc6-r1.orig" First I tried emerging an older version of syslog-ng, with the same result. I remembered during install rsync failed and went to webrsync, so I thought maybe it was a bad sync or something.I next ran "emerge --sync" on my other machine which I set up as a local rsync mirror for my LAN. I next ran "emerge --sync" on the machine with the problem, but the problem is still there. I will see if I can reproduce it on my other machines if they need to update syslog-ng. The mirror during install was "ibiblio" something, I use university of illinois ftp mirror for regular updates because mirrorselect said it was the fastest.I will paste "emerge --info --verbose syslog-ng" as an attachment. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.run "emerge syslog-ng" 2. 3. Actual Results: A file listed in the Manifest...blah.blah... Expected Results: Install syslog-ng. See emerge --info --verbose I will attach.
Created attachment 117121 [details] Output of "emerge --info --verbose syslog-ng >> syslog-ng.txt" Not sure why, but "emerge syslog-ng >> blahblah.txt" captured all the console output prior to the error message but not the error message itself. So my attempt to attach the console error message I see did not pan out.
I have the same error message here, both with x86 & ~x86
The error message A file listed in the Manifest could not be found: $file indicates a Manifest corruption. Sorry for that - fixed in cvs.
it seems to be the new change make this happen again.(In reply to comment #3) > The error message > > A file listed in the Manifest could not be found: $file > > indicates a Manifest corruption. Sorry for that - fixed in cvs. > it seems to me, that last change (on 6th May) reopen this porblem..
